ELECTRIC TRUCKS SAVE LIVES
PENNSYLVANIA CAN NO LONGER IGNORE ITS TRUCK POLLUTION PROBLEM.
-
Number of Pennsylvanians who die yearly because of diesel pollution each year.
-
What diesel pollution exposure costs Pennsylvanians annually.
-
Number of cancer-causing substances in diesel exhaust.
We can bring relief to communities that are burdened with this dangerous truck and bus pollution and protect the economic well-being of our state by lowering vehicle emissions and accelerating the move to electric medium- and heavy-duty trucks and buses as quickly as possible. The Advanced Clean Trucks (ACT) rule gives Pennsylvania the power to act now to provide statewide economic benefits, protect communities, address climate change, and promote environmental justice.
All communities deserve clean air. But people who live next to highways and industrial areas with lots of heavy truck and bus traffic, like rail yards, ports, depots, and warehouses, are exposed to far too much tailpipe pollution, made even worse by trucks and buses that idle and make frequent stops.
WHY?
For Jobs and the Economy
Clean Trucks improve the bottom line and create good jobs.
For Equity & Health
Clean Trucks will help families living in “diesel death zones.”
For the Climate
A transition to Clean Trucks solves a major climate problem.
HOw?
Zero-Emission Trucks
This is a historic opportunity to slash pollution with strong policy.
TIME FOR Pennsylvania TO BE IN THE DRIVER SEAT
Pennsylvania has long been a dumping ground for old, dirty diesel engines, making us one of the worst states for diesel pollution. Our toxic air contributes to climate change while affecting children, the elderly, low-income, and BIPOC communities worst, who are disproportionately located next to highways, ports, and other pollution hot spots.
Let’s grab the wheel and lead the way on a new road, with zero-pollution and miles of opportunities.
